She attended the University of Phoenix and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.
She is endorsed to teach American Sign Language (ASL).
Previous to teaching she was a certified interpreter in the Deaf Community for several years.
This is her eleventh year teaching and all of her teaching experience has been here at Copper Hills.
Rae also broadcasts her class to West Jordan High School through the virtual world.
In her spare time you will see her with her nose in a book, out on the tennis courts, or running (which really looks more like walking). |

Demetrio Cabanillas was born in Sinaloa, México. Attended elementary and junior high in his hometown of Tamazula, Guasave. For high school, he attended the Instituto Tecnológico de Culiacán. After high school, he moved to México City to study engineering at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional.
While in high school, he became the fastest runner in the 1500 meters, Steeplechase, 5K and 10K. While in México City, he became the national 3000 meters steeplechase champion and twice the Central American Champion. He also competed twice in the Pan American Games, winning the bronze medal. In 1976, he came on full track scholarship to Brigham Young University, taking the Cougars cross country team to fourth place in the NCAA and conference
champions several times. After college, Demetrio served as USA track and field – Utah Association president for twelve years in a row and served at the national level too. In 1974 he was recognized by Luis Echeverría Alvarez, president of México, as youth athlete of the year. In March 2007, he was recognized by the state of Sinaloa as an outstanding person of the state, “Sinaloense Ejemplar”.
He has been working for Jordan School District as a teacher for 18 years. He was recognized as “outstanding educator” of 2000-2001 by Jordan Education Foundation. As department chair and as a teacher, he hopes to change one student at a time and hopes that students can make education a very important part of their life. He has two
children, both with master degrees.

My name is Linton Dean and I am excited to be the Chinese teacher here at CHHS. I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Ogden, Utah 6 years ago to study at Weber State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Musical Theatre. I decided to go back to school again, moved to Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah and earned a BA in Chinese. I then attended graduate school at the University of Utah and completed an MA in World Languages. During my college career I have also had opportunities to live in Taiwan and study at Nankai University (????) in Tianjin, China.
For the past four summers I have taught musical theatre classes for the University of Utah Youth Theatre program. In my free time I enjoy eating Oreo cookies and watching TV on DVD. |

Lauren Rojas recently married a Peruvian so now her last name fits her Spanish teaching career. She loves the Latin culture and absolutely loves to travel and get to know new places and new people. She loves a good adventure and this summer fulfilled two of her life dreams: skydiving, and a triathlon. She also has a goal to visit all of the new Seven Wonders of the World (she’s already been to two of them).
Lauren received her BA in Spanish Teaching from Utah Valley University with a minor in business education and a Masters in Education from UVU. She is currently working on a Masters in ESL Education and will graduate in May. She teaches Spanish 3, 4, AP and this year started the Latinos In Action Class. Lauren loves teaching at Copper Hills High School. |

Mallory Seamons graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Deaf Studies/ASL Education. She loves being a teacher at Copper Hills and also works as a certified ASL interpreter in the education setting.
Some of her hobbies include cycling, kickboxing, singing, flute, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the great outdoors. (Always up for a good hike or camping trip!) She also loves reading, reading, and reading some more. |

Charlotte Van Wagenen loves everything about the French language and culture! She received her BA in French Teaching from Brigham Young University in 2005. While there, she lived in the French Language House with several native French speakers. She also studied abroad in France, Senegal and Quebec. She teaches French levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and AP. In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning languages, traveling the world, ballroom dancing and cooking new recipes. She is very excited to be at Copper Hills as a teacher, advisor of the French Club and one of the student government advisors! |
