FAQ

What is FBLA?
Future Business Leaders of America and its post-secondary division Phi Beta Lambda is a non-profit education association with a quarter of a million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. Its focus is to actively involve its four member divisions: Middle School, High School, Post-secondary and the professional alumni division in successfully learning and developing an effective leadership style to survive in today’s and tomorrow’s business world. This is accomplished by its unique programs and nation-wide leadership conferences held at regions, state and national level.

What can FBLA do for me?
In today’s aggressive business world, if you do not have the right leadership skills or the right leadership style, your chances of survival are very slim. FBLA has proved itself to millions of students over the years to deliver the finest programs and conferences to help its members to learn and experience real-world situation where their leadership style ultimately determines success or failure. However, FBLA does not leave their students stranded by themselves; with the help of the student’s chapter members and advisors, the student is part of team where together, they discover, learn and achieve in their pursuits of success.

Besides the skills that the student may learn, the students can benefit in other ways. By joining and actively participating in FBLA, students can place it on their resume, scholarship or college applications. It’s another quality in their achievements and many institutions or businesses admire this as they see the student trying to exceed their expectations of leadership at a High School level. Also FBLA offers a variety of scholarships internally or from corporate sponsors: ask your local advisor for more information.

What are some of the activities and programs that FBLA offers?
Besides the local chapter leadership involvements for their school or their community, FBLA offers a variety of unique activities and programs. Held both in the fall and spring, FBLA holds regional, state and national leadership conferences national wide where students can participate to compete in more than 40 competitions or learn from acclaimed business leaders in solid workshops. Recently FBLA started a program aimed at individual excellence; “FBLA Individual Achievement Program”.

Why do people join FBLA?
Either they find out through their friends or search for the club by themselves, FBLA changed their lives. Many students join because they can network with so many people and be able to connect and interact with them. Other students may join to take advantage of the leadership opportunities or a chance to hold a leadership position such as “President”. Perhaps one other major reason they join is because they can put it on their resume or their scholarship application. Whatever the reason, FBLA is a club that is worth joining and participating; there is always something special happening every single minute.

How do I join FBLA?
To join FBLA, the process varies depending on which member division you qualify to be in. Basically the process is general for all divisions whether you’re in Junior High, High School or College. Find a local active FBLA chapter near you and ask for the advisor; they’ll provide all the information you need to join.

How much does it cost to join FBLA?
The cost varies depending on the chapter. The base pay is $6 to join nationally, but there may be local and state dues involved as well. The best way is to consult your local FBLA chapter.

Do I have to go into business to benefit from FBLA?
Absolutely not, there are so many examples of FBLA members who joined FBLA and then become successful doctors or even artists. What FBLA will teach and show you despite which career you choose, is the discipline and dedication that you need to be successful. Millions of students come out of FBLA despite what career they choose, (and it doesn’t have to be in business), more committed and confident about themselves as they gain the necessary leadership style necessary to be successful in their career.
